Quantification of the MDS Coordinator in the Skilled Nursing Facility

      Within a decade, a new nursing position has evolved in our skilled nursing facilities for the position of a Minimum Data Set (MDS) Nursing Coordinator. The main responsibility of this position is the completion and filing of the MDS Assessments as regulated by CMS. The question of how many MDS personnel are necessary in a facility arose at a meeting of MDS coordinators in our city.
