Geographic Regions Enriched with Frail Older Adults

      Individuals with frailty are at particular risk in emergencies. By definition, these individuals are not resilient, meaning that they do not recover quickly from stressors.

      Emergency preparedness involves planning for the optimal direction of resources, such as populations with the greatest needs or with the most difficulty accessing resources in an emergency. The Pandemic and All Hands Preparedness Act of 2006 required the US Department of Health and Human Services to integrate the needs of at-risk individuals in all levels of emergency planning.

      The challenge is knowing where these individuals are concentrated so that their needs can be met.
