Falls are common in older adults and many studies have been conducted to determine
the interventions associated with the greatest reduction in the incidence of falls
in community dwelling and nursing facility residents. Falls in older adults often
result in costly injuries and loss of independence and function. Centra PACE (Program
of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) has 3 centers in central Virginia. The Gretna
center opened in 2016 and serves participants in their homes and nursing facilities.
Each PACE organization is required by federal and state regulations to have a robust
Quality Improvement Plan.
